Hudson Valley is leading a historic PUBLIC POWER fight to replace Central Hudson with a publicly-owned utility that's not for profit. But to take this fight on, we need to build our power, and we can do that when leaders like you organize with us. Join us!
The majority of the people who would support our effort to take over Central Hudson haven't even heard about the effort yet! ⭐ Break the Bonds Comptroller Candidate Forum
If an event has a ⭐ in front of its name, that means it is a good fit for first-timers!
⭐ Break the Bonds Comptroller Candidate Forum
June 8, 2026 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
RSVP HERE
Please join the Break the Bonds Coalition for a virtual Candidate Forum for the upcoming New York State Comptroller primary. Learn about the role of the comptroller and the candidates’ positions on Israel Bonds and other questions related to ethical investments.
The Comptroller is the chief fiscal officer, responsible for managing the state pension fund, and ensuring that tax dollars are spent legally and efficiently. The Comptroller is an important statewide office that most voters know very little about. In our current economic state in 2026, voters have a right to know where their taxpayer money goes and what initiatives are funded.
The NYS Common Retirement Fund, overseen by the Comptroller, is currently one of the largest holders of Israel Bonds in the country. Israel Bonds provide unrestricted funds to the Israeli government, which is committing illegal military actions in the Middle East. The Break the Bonds coalition demands that local and state governments, universities, pension funds, unions, places of worship, and other local institutions stop supporting apartheid and genocide by divesting from Israel Bonds. The forum will also cover investment strategy related to the military-industrial complex, fossil fuels, social housing, and other issues that are relevant to working people.
This forum is your chance to hear directly from the Democratic candidates on how they intend to serve the people and manage the money that funds our public services.
The event will be held virtually June 8th, 2026 from 7pm to 8:30pm.

Mutual Aid WG Bi-Weekly
If an event has a ⭐ in front of its name, that means it is a good fit for first-timers!
Mutual Aid WG Bi-Weekly
June 25, 2026 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The Mutual Aid Working Group builds solidarity through mutual aid organizing and community engagement. We organize a range of mutual aid projects in municipalities across the Hudson Valley, including brake light clinics, through which we help each other avoid unnecessary interactions with the carceral system by checking and repairing brake lights; and coat drives, through which we distribute clothing and food to our communities. The mutual aid working group promotes mutual aid as a key component of building democratic socialism. Reach out to mutualaid@mhvdsa.org to get involved!
Biweekly meetings: Monday, 7-8PM

Join DSA members, friends, and neighbors for a new monthly political discussion circle! This month we will be discussing social democracy, the economic paradigm which many countries in Europe ran on in the second half of the 20th century. When people think of places like Sweden they often think of health care, strong unions, housing for everybody, and a welfare state that placed the needs of the many over the needs of the few. What was this actually? What lessons can we learn from it? Why has it been slowly dismantled over the past few decades? And is it actually different from socialism? Come, learn about these questions, and bring your thoughts and knowledge to share with others.
