⭐Political Education: Tariff Talk
If an event has a ⭐ in front of its name, that means it is a good fit for first-timers!
⭐Political Education: Tariff Talk
May 1, 2025 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
A lot is going on with the economy right now, with extreme tariffs being applied willy-nilly and economic downturn in the news. Most liberal commentators are vociferously against tariffs, but Shawn Fain and some other labor folks are in favor? Is this the end of neoliberalism (really this time)? Is manufacturing coming back to America? How should socialists strategize around the near and present economic crisis?
We don't have the answers, but we've got a couple economists to talk it through with. Oriol is an ecological macroeconomist and international political economist. Brandon is a researcher at the Levy Economics Institute; he also publishes on housing economics at rentrentier.com.
There will be a short presentation, then we'll spend most of the time in Q&A and discussion. Small bites and beverages will be provided.
RSVP HERE.

Swing by for good food, cold drinks, fun games, and great company. All are welcome! Location will be provided upon RSVP.
- Donations are encouraged (pitch in here!), but not required. All proceeds will go directly toward covering travel, lodging, and food for our delegation so they can represent Mid-Hudson Valley without financial barriers.
- National Convention is where DSA members debate and decide our path forward for the next two years and beyond. We want to ensure everyone elected to represent our chapter can attend, regardless of financial barriers. If you can chip in, it will make a real difference. But if you're unable to give right now, that's all good—we'd still love to see you!

Mutual Aid WG Bi-Weekly
May 30, 2025 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Mutual Aid Working Group builds solidarity through mutual aid organizing and community engagement. We organize a range of mutual aid projects in municipalities across the Hudson Valley, including brake light clinics, through which we help each other avoid unnecessary interactions with the carceral system by checking and repairing brake lights; and coat drives, through which we distribute clothing and food to our communities. The mutual aid working group promotes mutual aid as a key component of building democratic socialism. Reach out to mutualaid@mhvdsa.org to get involved!
