⭐️ Tenants Deserve REST
If an event has a ⭐ in front of its name, that means it is a good fit for first-timers!
⭐️ Tenants Deserve REST
April 9, 2026 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Ulster County Restorative Justice and Community Empowerment Center, 733 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401, USA
RSVP: https://actionnetwork.org/events/tenants-deserve-rest/
Upstate tenants deserve strong protections against unfair rent hikes, but the NYC Real Estate Lobby is blocking them. Join us on April 9th for a meeting hosted by Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha's office to learn about what tenants can do to fight back!
In 2019, the statewide tenant movement won the right for upstate municipalities to adopt the same strong rent stabilization laws downstate tenants have had for over half a century. But for the past 7 years, landlords—funded by big real estate—have sued and harassed city after city, using the courts and technicalities in the law to overturn rent stabilization and jack up rents on upstate tenants. To this day, Kingston is the only upstate city that has managed to keep rent stabilization in place, and now Kingston is being sued yet again!
That's why we're fighting to pass the REST Act THIS YEAR in Albany. The REST Act will simplify the process of adopting rent stabilization, ensuring we can keep it in Kingston, and protecting other towns and cities that opt in from legal harassment. It will also give cities the right to cover many more tenants than the law currently allows.
TENANTS DESERVE REST! Come learn about the fight to pass it this year and how you can help.

⭐️ ICE Out: End Orange County's Contract with ICE!
April 12, 2026 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Village Green, S Church St & Main St, Goshen, NY 10924, USA
https://actionnetwork.org/events/ice-out-ocj
Join with us to say: Orange County should not be in the business of locking up our neighbors! The county executive, with the support of the Orange County legislature, must end the contract between ICE and the Orange County jail NOW.
Locking up human beings because of the color of their skin or the language they speak is no way to balance a county budget, and we do not want it done in our names. Since 2008 County Executive Neuhaus has rolled out the red carpet for ICE, and ICE has taken every advantage of the warm welcome by detaining and deporting our neighbors and family members.
We came together as a community to oppose a new detention center in Chester and we showed what we can do when we join our voices. The detention of our neighbors in the Orange County jail is no more acceptable to us than a new detention center would be.
Bring your friends and neighbors, your signs and your voice!

Immigrant Solidarity Working Group Retreat for MHVDSA Members
April 26, 2026 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
As attacks on our immigrant neighbors escalate, join your comrades as we chart our course for the next 6-12 months! We'll survey the political landscape and the material conditions across our chapter, evaluate the levers of power available to our organizing efforts, and prioritize the most impactful actions we can take with the resources we have. Meet your fellow immigrant justice comrades and give valuable input into the chapter's newest working group!
Email immigrantsolidarity@mhvdsa.org for more information.
